Day Nine of the Novena
Today is the final day of the novena to Queen Isabel. Tomorrow, I'll put up a long post with the entire novena in it, in case any of you would like to print it off (of course, I don't even know if anyone else is doing this but me, but anyway...).
Also tomorrow will be the series of posts on Her Majesty, so look for those as well. If you have any specific questions you would like me to deal with (for example, "AI, why do you pray to Queen Isabel since she was that horrible woman who authorized the Inquisition?" or "AI, why do you pray to someone who expelled all the Moslems and Jews from her country?" or "AI, why do you pray to the woman who gave Christopher Columbus funding and therefore indirectly caused the deaths of millions of peace-loving people?") you are more than welcome to post them here or e-mail me at americaninquisition(at)gmail(dot)com.

The Venerable Servant of God
Queen Isabel the Catholic of Castile
Novena Prayer
O God, who did see fit to place Queen Isabel upon the throne of Castile
And thereby give us a model of Christian piety and virtue in government,
We beseech You that, through your grace, we may imitate Isabel in our daily lives
And thereby become examples of virtue ourselves for our neighbors.
We also implore that you may grant this request (state intention) we make to you through the intercession of this holy and venerable Queen.
We ask all this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
The Novena Prayer is followed by two Hail Marys, in honor of Queen Isabel.
Isabel, Holy Queen of Spain and the Americas, pray for us.

Day Nine – Ornament of Christendom
Glorious and Holy Queen Isabel, you were truly the most beautiful ornament of Christendom during your lifetime. Your piety and faithfulness were exemplary and truly a paradigm of Christian virtue. We turn now to you and ask you, as we complete these nine days of prayer to you, to intercede for the purpose of this novena (state intention).
As we reflect on your holy and venerable life, we are ever called to imitate you and, in so doing, to imitate Christ. We, your children on earth, trust that you wield heavenly influence in accordance with your commendable life and beg you to keep us ever in your prayers as we struggle in our own quests for holiness. Confident in your majesty, we ask you to place these and all our prayers before the throne of Almighty God, whose commands you followed so perfectly while you were as one of us.
